Concrete Pipes—What Are The Advantages?

Pipes can be made from a variety of materials.  Some of the most popular materials include ceramic, fiberglass, steel, iron, brass, and plastic.  However, concrete pipes are the best material to use for important building tasks.  Why?  What are some of the advantages of concrete?  Let’s start by considering some of the most significant strengths.

The power of concrete pipes is one of the most obvious advantages.  Precast pipes made from concrete are the strongest available pipes on the market.  They can resist and load necessary.  Concrete pipe also has minimal reliance on installation.  Its power accommodates anything and everything.  The average strength of concrete pipe is 4,000 psi to 8,000 psi.

Concrete pipes are also highly durable.  Not only do they withstand high pressure, but they can also exist for years on end without any sign of deterioration.  This is attractive to company owners and project managers that are looking for sound long-term investment, particularly in an unstable economy.  The Army Corp of Engineers organization states that the standard of any concrete pipe is upwards of 70 years—an entire lifetime!  Remember to buy pipes that have high density, as these are the most durable.

Concrete pipes are dependable as well as rigid enough to provide structure as well as conduit, as soon as it arrives at the construction site.  This rigid system is dependent on its strength.  These pipes are impervious to fire and thus are ideal for safety.  This is in high contrast to thermoplastic conduits.  Concrete pipe doesn’t burn.  This is good news for areas in which public safety is paramount; for example, schools and forests.

Last but certainly not least, you have to consider the value of concrete pipes.  Concrete costs less to make than other inferior materials like plastic or metal pipe.  It is also easier to maintain.  All in all, it costs less money—for installation, maintenance and repair.  Remember, it’s not all about the installation.  The repair of an inferior piping system can cost thousands of dollars and will put a great burden on the city.

This is a cost effective solution, and a convenient one too, considering that the pieces can be prefabricated off-site.  If you’re looking for a company to work with, then make sure they handle concreting piping and also provide flap valves and grids if needed.  The best contract companies always allow for concrete pipes—the most reliable system you can buy.

Frequently Asked Questions...

What Is Your Opinion On United States Steel Corp (X)?

I plan on buying now and waiting a few years to make money. What is your opinion.

Answer:

X at one time was the world's largest steel producer. Today it does not have such an exalted status, about 5th world wide and 2nd in the U S maybe 3rd. Acelor Mittal is now the largest in the world and in the U S.

The steel industry is not what one would consider a growth industry at least not in general. It is more of a cyclical industry and we are at the peek of the cycle currently. The steel company that has the best record of returning shareholder value I believe is Nuccor about 15% annually over the past 10 years. It too however is not immune to the peeks and valleys of the business cycle, but unlike X has not suffered 3 losses during the last 10 years. It also has a somewhat less leveraged balance sheet which may make quite a difference during the coming 3 years.

Frankly I would avoid the steel industry for the time being.
