There are a number of alternative ways to make duvet covers. I will choose one of many alternatives that you can employ as soon as you are done reading. Let me just ease your possible worry – it is quite easy to create a duvet cover just as long as you follow all the laid our procedures. There is no need to stress about best duvet selection or branded ones line pottery barn ladybug duvet cover
Here is the first thing you need to do, choose the fabric you will be using. make sure you have a take measure for measurements i.e. the width and the length using a tape measure. You need to know the size of the bed you will be using it on. For example, is it a queen, king, twin or single bed?
Now here is my advice. Make sure that you pick a washable fabric that could also double as a home decorator. light weight material is usually more appealing. Of course you need to take the weather and climatic conditions of your area into consideration.
Now you need to choose two lengths of fabric that should be about 54 inches wide. It is always good to make it slightly wider. This will be used on the front of the duvet cover. Make sure that each of the panels is equal to the length measurement discussed above.
-Find home decorator fabrics. These should be about 54 inches wide that is able to cover a duvet cover to 104 inches wide. If you duvet is wider then make them wider as well. In this case simply buy another panel of fabric for each of the duvet sides.
-Now you must think about patterns and prints that you like. You may need to do some variations based on the prints to use. For example, you may have to make your panels longer.
-Prewash and iron the fabric.
-Now simply fold the front panel in half lengthwise.
-You may need to use an iron to make some sharp creases at the folds. Once you’ve done the ironing you may then unfold the fabric.
-you will have to do this to the panels at the back too.
-Now you need to draw a line that goes down the length of the crease on the panel. You will need a fabric marking pen and a yard stick for this task.
-you need to make six panels by cutting out each line. i.e., three will be used for the back and three shall be used on the front part of the cover.
-Once you have done all that the other thing to do on how to make duvet covers is to just pin one panel that’s tapered to one side of the front panel that is uncut. Make sure that is it is pinned such that all fabric edges are lined up and the sides of the fabric are also together.
These tips provided above should be enough for you to create your own duvet cover. Yes there might be a few more steps to go but then it is all up to you how you want to wrap it all up and make one that will suite just your taste and style.
