How To Save On Party Food This Christmas!
You've got the big event coming up, and you want it to be a special one. Only thing is, since the economy took a turn for the worse, the pennies are kinda tight at the moment, getting in caters or calling your local Indian takeway is never cheap. Your event can also go off with a bang, without you having to spend loads.
- Cook the food yourself. Now with an event you've got hundreds of things to organise, and if someone has been hired to take care of it- that'll help. BUT, you gotta save the pennies, and your not liking the prices the outdoor catering firm has quoted. So although it may be abit more of a burden, and another thing you will have to do, the easiest and cheapest way is to do it yourself. This may work out for you, as you now have total control over what you want to serve to your guests. This way you can make that wheat free meal for the family member who cant eat wheat.
- Get people you know to help out. Now that youve decided to do this on your own back, you've got to get the hired help, depending on the size of the event. Those favours your owed? Time to call them in, because you need all the people to help out that you can get. Get everyone who can help to help. This is not the time to be proud and try doing it all by yourself.
- Buy a cheaper brand when shopping. If you dont mention it many of your guest wont even notice that you've swapped for a cheaper brand. During a recession we really shouldnt start being snobbish over eating a cheaper brand of food. This will save some money, allowing those pennies to go on something else.
- Use you house as the venue for the event. Probably not what you had in mind, but it can still be a memorable party. You can now put that money back into the bank and smile about the fact you've saved afew more pennies. For bigger events you could even use a location out in the countryside for a touch if class, if you can get permission.

Do you have a hobby or collect anything in particular?
I collect US Lincoln (Wheat back - pre 1954) pennies and I love getting postcards from people (friends and strangers) in countries other than the US.
Answer:
I used to have a huge hat collection. I was up to about 400 hats. After we moved, I didn't have room for them, so my then wife sold them at a garage sale. She got 10 bucks for the whole box. I could have shot her when she told me.
